Lx1go User Manual

Lx1go is a digital prompt book for theatre stage managers. Import a PDF script, mark it up with cues, blocking, and pen annotations, then run your show live with cue calling and a show timer.

Working through a production

The manual follows the order you’ll use Lx1go in, from the first day with a new script to closing night. Each stage below says what you do then, with links to the pages that cover it.

1. Get the script in

Create a show from your PDF script, learn your way round the screen and the pages, and tidy up the page order if you need to.

• Getting Started: shows, the sample prompt book, importing a PDF
• Margins & Axes: line up the guides with the script text so cues and blocking sit in the margins
• The Edit Screen: the layout and the core gestures
• Navigation & Zoom: moving through the script, zoom and bookmarks
• Search: find a word on the page or in the whole script
• Managing Pages: the page grid, to reorder, duplicate and delete pages, or split the show

2. Marking up and keeping track

Draw on the script, attach photos and voice notes, and keep your to-do list in the show.

• Drawing: pen, highlighter, lines and eraser
• Shapes: boxes, whiteout and shape styles
• Scene Photos: reference photos on any page
• Tasks: a to-do list that remembers where you were

3. Rehearsals

Record the blocking as the director sets it, add notes and timings, and mark where the songs are.

• Blocking: entrances, exits and moves
• Text & Timestamps: notes on the page, page notes and time stamps
• Songs & tags: tag song pages and jump between them

4. Plotting and tech

Write the cues with your designers, add their details, set up standbys and check everything in the cue list.

• Cues: placing, numbering and editing cues
• Cue Groups: several cues on one call
• Cue Details by Type: the fields for LX, SFX, FLY, SPOT, MIC and your other departments
• Standbys: warn for a cue ahead of time with coloured margin stripes
• Cue List & Notes: every cue and page note in one list, renumbering and setting fields for all cues

5. Running the show

Work through the pre-show checklist, set curtain up, call the show cue by cue, run the interval and end the show.

• Pre- & Post-Show Checklists: setup and wrap-up lists with times and history
• Show Clock: curtain up, pre-show and interval calls, the interval panel and Act 2 up
• Show Mode: live cue calling, the timer, and Crew link for crew following along

6. Advanced state management

Check where every fly line and radio mic should be at any point in the show.

• Fly State: every fly line’s position at any cue
• Mic State: every mic on or off at any cue

7. Setup and admin

Make Lx1go work the way your company does, and keep your prompt book safe.

• Tools: page clean-up, revert, clear page, zoom presets and page history
• Styles: your text, shape, highlight and line styles
• Settings: terminology, cue placement and Compact view
• Exporting: a PDF of the prompt book and cue lists as spreadsheets
• Backup & Sharing: back up, restore and share a show, and putting back an earlier version of a page

Tablets and stylus

Lx1go is designed for large tablets with a stylus:

• Android: the reference device is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra with the S Pen. It works on any Android tablet.
• iPadOS: runs on iPad with the Apple Pencil. Pencil 2 and Pencil Pro also get a double-tap on the barrel as an eraser shortcut.

Marking up works the same way on both. Where a shortcut only works with one stylus or platform, the manual says so on the spot.
