Stage Directions
Stage directions are the yellow notes recording blocking — Ent PS, X To DS OP, [A] Rise. Lx1go composes them from buttons so you rarely need the keyboard.
The Add Direction panel
Tap the Direction button (the walking figure) in the tool bar. The panel builds the direction text from your selections, previewing it at the bottom:
- Modifier chips —
[A](actor placeholder),Ent(enter),Ex(exit),X(cross),∫(sit),Rise. Tap to toggle; contradictory pairs (Sit/Rise, Ent/Ex) automatically deselect each other. - “To” toggle — inserts “To” before the position (X To DS PS). It unticks itself after each placement, since “To” describes one move.
- Position grid — a 3×3 stage map (upstage at the top) using your chosen terminology (PS/OP or SL/SR). One position at a time; tap again to clear. Edge buttons around the grid select a whole region: the US strip on top, DS along the bottom, and full-height side rails for the whole prompt or opposite side.
- Custom text — anything the buttons can’t say (a character name, “slowly”). It’s appended to the composed text and persists between placements until you clear it.
Then tap the script where the move happens. The direction box centres on your tap, snaps to its page edge (opposite side to cues), and connects with a faint straight line.
Your selections stay put after placing, so repeating Ent PS for a crowd scene is just tap, tap, tap.
Direction lines
Direction lines render faint and straight by default so they stay legible next to cue lines. Both properties are per-element style — double-tap a direction to change its line opacity or make it curved.
Update last
As with cues, fix the most recent direction by adjusting the panel and tapping Update last — it’s rebuilt in place with the new text.
Editing any direction
Double-tap a direction on the page and the same panel opens in edit mode — the header changes colour and reads EDIT Direction, with the direction decomposed back onto the chips, position grid, and custom text field. Adjust the buttons, then:
- Save applies the new text to that direction (it keeps its place and connecting line).
- Cancel leaves it unchanged.
- All properties… opens the full properties panel for style, line, and delete options.
Page taps are ignored while editing, so you can’t accidentally place a new direction mid-edit. (Cues, text, and timestamps still open their properties panel directly on double-tap.)
